CANTON, Ohio — Dec. 9, 2008 — The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR) today announced that it is supplying anti-friction bearings to SMS Demag AG for installation in a plate mill and slab caster under construction for one of Russia's largest steelmakers.  The order is valued at more than $2 million. 

Timken® spherical and tapered roller bearings will be installed in a 5-meter (16-foot) plate mill and slab caster under construction for the operator of the largest steel plant in Russia.  The steel producer provides about 20 percent of all the steel consumed in the domestic Russian market. 

The slab caster and roll tables will incorporate Timken high-capacity spherical roller bearings. In addition, tapered roller bearings will be installed on the work and back-up rolls of the heavy plate mill.
